THE KAITAIA LOAN.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —In your issue of 29th July you have published an editorial approving the self-reliance shown by Kaitaia in voting for a loan of £45,000 for making good roads in ite district, and commending the progressive spirit that has been shown there of recent years. "Honour to -whom honour is due, , * and lam sure I am voicing the sentiments of numerous people in the North when I say that much of the development that has taken place is due to the energy and initiative of Mr. Allen Bell. He has been unwearied in his efforts towards progress, was mainly responsible for the Parliamentary tour, and has given an example of public spirit that is worthy of imitation by us all.—■ I am, etc., J.
