(Reuter.) BELA KTTN'S DOWNFALL. FLIGHT FBOM REPRISALS. SOVIET'S POWER GONE. LONDON, August 6. The Milan correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" reports that the downfall of Bela Kun occurred with dramatic suddenness. After fighting for power for weeks, the leaders of the Hungarian Bolsheviks are now flying to escape reprisals, which they justly fear. They were dismayed early in the week when they learnt that the Red Troops were surrendering wholesale, and were fraternising with the Rumanians. The Bolshevik Government was in a state of panic on Thursday. Bela Kun, during the night, accompanied by the people's commissaries, motored to the front. He saw the stampede of the Red Guards, and motored back to Budapest, -where, at a stormy meeting which lasted for eight hours, the Bolshevik leaders indulged in fierce recriminations. Maniacal extremists crowded the Parliament House, shouting, "Let the nation sink in blood before the Soviets yield power," but Bela Kun saw the game'was finished. He called a grand council of workmen and soldiers, and -within 15 minutes of his resignation being accepted, a more moderate Socialist Government ivas elected- . It is stated that British troops arc en route to Budapest from Fiume.— (A and N.Z. CabLe)
