Papatoetoe, on Monday, was ' sanctioned. ' NORTHERN tTNION. AUCKLAND V. HAWKE'S BAY. At the usual weekly meeting of the Auckland Rugby League executive last night, Mr. J. Carlaw presiding, the cHawke's Bay L*ague notified acceptance of the suggested date, August 2, for the match at Auckland ' between Auckland and Hawke's Bay for the English Northern Union Challenge ■Shield, now held by Auckland. It was to play the game on the Domain. The Wellington League intimated that it was unable to send a team to Auckland on August 2. Mr. F. Thompson, who had been appointed to referee the game City v. Marists on Saturday, explained his nonappearance to keep the appointment, stating that he was not advised until late on Saturday forenoon of ah urgent business engagement that afternoon, with the result that he had no opportunity ot communicating with the members of the committee, though he made several efforts to let them know the position. The explanation was accepted. Mr. A. Ball was appointed referee for the Peace Day match on the Domain between a League representative team and a returned soldiers' team. It was decided to play the postponed match City v. Marist Bros, on Monday the ground to be arranged on Friday- -with a match Otahuhu v. City Second as a cur-tain-raiser. Application by the Post and Telegraph teams to be affiliated with Maritime Clnb was granted. The matter of transferring Grafton players to other clubs was deferred, pending the decision of the Grafton Club on the matter of entering a ' team fox the Roope Rooster competition. ASSOCIATION. Owing to the Peace Celebrations on Saturday, when the only match to be played wiU be the Overseas Returned Soldiers' versus a team selected from the Rest of Auckland, the championship matches under the auspices of the Auckland Football Association will be played at Victoria Park on Monday, the following being the arrangements.
