BALLOT AGAINST STRIKE. \ (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent); \ WAIHI, this day. A secret ballot was taken yesterday under the auspices of the Wa.ihi Borough' Labourers' Union to decide whether members should cease work as a protest against the method of dismissal of certaia borough workmen last Saturday. Tha ballot resulted—l 4 for, 21 against. At a meting of the union held last evening considerable discussion ensued, and it i» understood that the president (Mr D, Johnson), and the secretary (Mr H. Oarter) both tendered their resignaltiona. '
