ANOTHER WAIKATO MEETING.

m FARMERS AND TRADESPEOPLE. SERIES OK RESOLUTIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspvudcnt.) HAMILTON, this day. A largely-attended meeting of farmers and tradespeople was held at Hamilton to-day to consider the detrimental effect of the railway restrictions, especially in regard to the dairying industry. Mr. E. |H. Hammond, president of the sub-pro-I vincial executive of the Farmers' Union, presided. A number of speakers condemned the ineptitude displayed by the I Government, and emphasised the need for action by the farmers to conserve their interests by constitutional means, and at I the present time to solid and secure' fair treatment in the matter of carriage of materials essential to the carrying on of the dairy industry. The following resolutions were carried.: — "That this meeting of farmers and business men emphatically protests against the action of the Government in refusing to carry dairy machinery and plant urgently required for the coming season." "That the Minister of Railways be requested to direct the District TralHc Manager to visit Hamilton immediately and confer with the officials of the South Auckland Dairy Association." "That this meeting of Waikato farmers and business men is of opinion that the agricultural industries should have direct representation on the Advisory Coal Com. mitteo. and that the Minister of Munitions Ik- requested to give tffect to this proposal at once." PIPE-MAKERS' PROTEST. MAY HAVE TO DISCHARGE HANDS. At a meeting of all the local manufacturers of earthenware pipes,, he.'J last night, it was resolved that the following telegram be sent to the Acting-Premier! the Minister of Railways, and the Minister of Munitions:— "Combined meeting of earthenware pipe manufacturers view with alarm present railway restrictions re building material and its far-reaching effect. Must dispense with considerable labour unless situation immediately relieved. E. A Craig, chairman."
