ACTION BY THE GOVERNMENT. PARIS, July 16. N In order to bring down the cost of living the Government is erecting wooden booths for the sale of foodstuffs, organising cheap restaurants throughout France, selling the stocks of food accumulated for the army to co-operative societies, and creating a special police force to track profiteers.— (A. and N.Z.) MORE THAN DOUBLE DT BRITAIN. LONDON, July 16. The Food Controller, Mr G. H. Roberts, states that the price of food between July. 1914, and July, 1919, rose 109 per sent. The Government proposes to establish a national system of local tribunals in Britain To investigate profiteering, and deal with all cases discovered.—(A. and S-Z. Cable.)
