DOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING. Thn fortnightly meeting of the Borough Council took place last evening- The Mayor (Mr. A. McDonald) presided. A letter bearing about -0 names was sent in drawing; attention to the bad state Walmsley ltoad, otT Station Road, which is used to drive cattle to and from the galeyards, and the petitioners ask for "a footpath to lie made. Councillor "Wilson (chairman of the Works Committee) mentioned that the iseheelnle of work passed by %the Council, provided for an expenditure of about £J7 for work to he done there. It was resolved that the foreman view the road and report thereon. A letter from the Hospital Board seeking assistance for the procuring of motor ambulances for hospital patients, many of whom are returned soldiers, was referred to the local Patriotic Committee for consideration. In 'regard co a local function to celebrate the signing of the peace it was resolved to discuss the matter with the School Committee. Councillor Andrews (chairman of the Public Purposes Committee) reported on the question of reinstating the Municipal 'Band. The report recommended that the band be reorganised. The recommendation was adopted by the Council. Councillor Todd spoke strongly about tlie number of cuttle impounded from outside districts, and moved "That the Town Clerk report to the next meetinK. tho gross income and expenditure, Including payment to poundkeeper and ranger, rent <if paddock, number of cattle impounded from East Tamaki. At the nieetinK of the Oddfellows on Wednesday last the installation of officers for the coming session took place. For the position of Grand Master Bro. 11. Jackson was elected: Noble Grand Bro H. Wills; Vice Grand. Bro. W. Best': Elective Secretary, Bro. F. Kenny : Warden. Bro. J. Hotham: Guardian Urn F. Arnold.
