WAR MEMORIALS.
TAKAPUNA SUGGESTION. 3_ _, The Mayor of Takapuna suggested at . the meeting of the Council on Wednesday that the question of greeting a peace memorial library be considered. He suggested that if £1000 was collected from residents the Council might vote a bonus of £1000 for the purpose of erecting a building suited to the present and also future requirements of the uorough. Mr. Blomfield pointed out that the Council had a suitable site contiguous to the municipal chambers, and it was high time a proper building was put up, as the present one was utterly inadequate. The suggestion was favourably received by the Council, and it was decided to see what could be done in the direction of giving effect to the Mayor's suggestion. j . NOKTHCOTE PROPOSALS. Mr Glover said the committee had suggested a one-storey building with eeatin» accommodation for 500 adults, but this could be increased to 800, if desired, by the addition of a gallery.
