At a meeting of the Waitomo County Council it wae resolved to ask the Government to have a Crown reserve on the| outskirts of the township of Otorohanga.l which had been ear-marked for a hospital, vested in the council with the idea of the erection of a hospital there by the council. At a civic reception in Sydney Commodore J. A. Dumaresq, the new commander of the Australian Navy, said that it was a great ideal to man the Australian navy with Australians. He pointed out that if the ileet was to be efficient iwe must have among the petty officers land men SO or 40 per cent, who wouldj make the Navy their life occupation.
