CARRIAGE OF ESSENTIALS.
PRESSING THE GOVERNMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. A conference representative of the Manawatu, Dannevirke and Woodville districte was held at Palmerston North to-day to consider the railway cut, and resolutions were carried urging the Department to carry essentials, so as not to hamper industries and cause unemployment; also calling on the Government to improve housing conditions of miners, with a view to increasing the output. A large deputation, has been arraaged. to, intervie\v"the- Ministers'in Wellington oil" Wednesday.
