ADVANCE IN SUGAR. "Auckland Star" OfDce, Tuesday, July 1. With the advent of July an advance of 2."./ per ton in all grades of sugar, golden syrup, and treacle is announced by the ' Colonial Sugar Keflning Co. The retail price of sugar has been advanced a similar amount, the price for a 1211) parcel being now 3/. As far as sugar Is concerned the retail advance is 25/ per ton. With regard to golden syrup, treacle loaf sugar, and icing sugar the Increase is l one halfpenny per In, as a farthing would not cover the enhanced cost wholesale According to the Dunedin "Star" the oats market is ln the doldrums. Farmers who have the goods will not reduce the prices they ask, and buyers refuse to operate on anything like a big scale until some concession Is made. The "Mercantile Gnzette" reports:—"Cor- ', rngated iron Is £5 lower at £55 to £G0 and near arrivals are quoted £5 under 'this Fencing wire is £3 to £4 lower at ahout £31 ' for plain and £34 for barbed.
