PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
THE DATES FIXED. i AUGUST FIRST TO THIRD. | (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Acting-Prime Minister announces that peace celebrations will be held on 3rd, 4th, and sth August (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday). The following is the programme that has been arranged:—Sunday will be a day of thanksgiving, appropriate services being held. Monday will bo soldiers' day, and will be marked by military processions, etc. ■School children will be massed at suiti able points at noon on (Monday, and a j silent bare-headed tribute lor one minute will be paid to the brave dead. All trains and trams will temporarily I cease running and all employment cease. In the afternoon there will be military reviews, tournaments, etc Returned soldiers will wear unirorms and be placed in the positions of honour. The third day will be children's day, while on both days there will be illuminations and bonfires. The above telegram was received after we had sent to press an article on page 4, stating that the dates had not yet been fixed.
