" DAILY MAIL'S " COMMENT. SERVICES TO EMPIRE. (R-oeived 0..'!0 a.m.) LONDON", June "0. Referring to Mr Masscy's departure, the "Daily Mail" editorially says: "Mr Massey. Prime Minister of New Zealand, leaves Paris today on his return to that fair, far Dominion. He departs with a creditable record of service for State and Kmpire. as a member of the Imperial War Cabinet, and as New Zealand's plenipotentiary at the Peace Conference. , Those who arc acquainted with Mr j Masscy's work in Paris will readily agree that few statesmen have rendered better service to the Kmpire. of purpose and sound commonsense have iof ten maintained British Interests when !it would have been easier to have weakened on principle ana accepted less valuable results. That remarkable document, the report of the Responsibilities Commission, bears the impress of his stern sense of justice and unswervable attachment to the Empire's cause. It is in uo j small measure due to his statesmanlike acumen that Samoa will never airain lie controlled by a foreign Power, and he has secured for New Zealand a share of the valuable phosphate island of Nauru, in the South Pacific. New Zealand and the Empire may be well satisfied with his work at the Peace Conference, and we wish him God speed."—(N.Z. Official.)
