Another sharp advance has taken place in the buying price of P. and O. deferred stock, as high as £440 being offered to-day, as compared with £4ot) yesterday afternoon. Xo holders, however, quoted a selling ifigure. Australian Sugar, Fiji issue, were wanted at £20, but sellers asked another 15/. Sales were made of Auckland Trams at £1 2/, and £1 1/10 for ordinary issue, and a small lot of preference changed hands at 18/. Auckland Gas paid issue were transferred at £1 fi/11. National Insurance firmed to buyers at £3 16/, and Huddart Parker Steam had buyers at £2 2/. Mosgiels could still be placed at £5 11/, and buyers of Bycroft's, Ltd. advanced their offers to 18/6. N.Z. Refrigerating are now wanted at £3 3/, and free sales were made of Wilsons N.Z. Cement at 10/7, and 16/6. In mining shares sales were made of Waihi's at £2 3/9, and Grand Junctions could now be placed at 14/. BUSINESS DONE. AT THE 10 A.M.
