If you want to boil successfully an egg that has been preserved in water-glass it should be pricked at one end with a needle, and put into water that is just off the boil. Then simmer gently till' done. To keep saucepan lids andl all tin goods like silver, dip the article to be cleaned in boiling soda water to get all the grease off, then rinse -with cold water and polish with a cabbage or rhubarb leaf and rinse again in cold water. Do not wipe, but put before the fire to dry immediately.
