VICTORIA.

I Born May 24, 1819; died Jan. 22, 1901.) A hundred years ago to-day, A little babe in cradle iay; And smiled upon the opening day. Our future Queen Victoria. Kach year beheld some added grace. Imprinted on that infant face; Until the maiden took her place, As our fair Queen Victoria. Throughout her long and varied reign, Pbft bore the sceptre not in vain; But strove her people's weal to gain, Our Mother Queen Victoria. And now she rests in peace with God, Her body sleeps beneath the sod; Till Christ shall come and raise that load, And lead her forth—Victoria. "Lest we forget"; these lines are penned In memory of our mother friend: To her the rosemary we bend. And bless the dead Victoria. —S. MACTIKK. i Takapana, May 21, 1910. j
