OBITUARY.
MR. WILLIAM ADAMS. Mr. William Adams, whose death is announced at Dunedin, arrived in Auckland by the ship Ironsides in 1.4(54. For some time he was engaged at the foundry of Yickery and Mansfield, leaving there on the opening of the Thames goldfield llHtIS), where he bad charge of Kurantli battery and Perry's Tailings Co. A few years later he went to Otago, and was for some time at the Blue Spur, Gabriel's Cully, subsequently going to Sbeppiirdston,'Australia, returning later lo liluc Spur. Mr. Adams hns been interested in the mining industry fur the past ot) vcars, and nt the time of bis death had considerable interests i-i sluicing aud dredging operations in the Otaso district. ■ lie is survived by bis widow, two sons and four daughters. His eldest son (now deceased) was formerly in 11.M. Customs at Invercnrgill. Another -on was killed in the Somme battle of September, 10111. His brother. Mr. .1. A. Adams, resides at Northcote,
