Dur Ing the lust trip of the Flora the vessel appeared intact, and to all appearances was as sound as when she went ashore. When the Flora passed that place during her present trip only parr of the how and the cylinders were left. The exceptionally heavy weather that has been experienced in the Islands played havoc with the wrecked vessel, and it only required two days to finish her. Tho Vnion Company's Island steamer Flora, which arrived early yesterday morning from Basawcu, I'aelfiivbm&ed atuJJae King's wharf this morning. The vessel had an uneventful trip from the Islands, and experienced tine weather on the run across. In aecordunce with her itinerary, the Flora proceeded to Rurotongil to pick up fruit, but was informed by the fruit Inspector that, il-.ey would he unable to get his sanction for , the lifting of the fruit at that port, owing to the fact that it had lain so long thar there was a possibility that it would go had. The vessel was finally obliged to leave that port without her usual cargo. She proceeded to Rniaten, where she loaded about 'JOOO rases of oranges and rocoanuts. After leaving that port the Flora went to Makatea Island, where she lifted about 500 tons of phosphates for Auckland. BELGIAN MOTOR SCIIOON'KR DUE. On her maiden trip from Washington to Antwerp, Sydney and New Zealand ports, the Belgian motor schooner Ady is due from Wellington to-day. The Ady (4.-.0 tons) was launched in the early part of last year, and took twelve months to build and make ready for sea. At her trial in August last she ran satisfactorily, and the bad weather that she has met with so far has proved her worth. The Ady has the appearance of being strongly constructed, as she was not built on the one-a-month principle, and is intended for coastal work. Her machinery is a 150 h.p. T'nlon engine, and is placed aft and gives an average speed of over six knots. Captain J. Verschauren is in command. A crew of two mates, two engineers, five sailors, a cook and v mess hoy is carried. Some of them have been on active service with the Belgian nrmy. Her first freight was timber loaded at Bellingham, I'uget Sound, for Sydney. After sailing very stormy weather was encountered, and four weeks later, during which there was little cessation of the gale, the Ady made Honolulu with her rudder damaged and part of her cargo lost. The lirst continuous use of her engine in huge seas had been a considerable strain, and they also needed slight ' repairs before proceeding on to Sydney. The run to that port was started nine days later und good weather was experienced. Nearly eight weeks were spent between the two ports. Coming across from Sydney had weather again prevailed, and the use of her engine was called upon for the entire trip.
