SOLDIERS AND RUSSIANS.

COLLISION IN BRISBANE. •> A DISLOYAL MEETING. BROKEN TTP BY RETURNED KEN. (Received 11.4.3 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. There were disgraceful scenes during the street procession from the Trades Hall to the Domain, where a meeting of protest against continuance of the ■\\"ar Precautions Act was held. There were many conflicts between the processionists and the po"ee, the latter endeavouring to suppress the carrying of red flags. When the Domain was reached the procession was confronted ■with a strong body of mounted police, but was eventually allowed to enter.

During the night members of the procession attempted to hold a meeting, but a large body of returned soldiers arrived and threatened to throw the speakers into the river, and the meeting was abandoned.

As a majority of the agitators were foreigners, TTie soldiers proceeded to the Russian Association rooms. When the soldfers were approaching three shots ■were fired from the rooms, and after a detective had informed the demonstrators that the Russians were armed and •would fight to a finish, the gathering dispersed.— fA. and N.Z.
