A visitor who arrived as a passenger by the Manua from Pago Pago last weekend, cays the "Samoa Times" of February 13, is Mrs A. J. Farmer, of Kawau Island. Auckland. Although Mrs Farmer and 'her .husband have extensive interests in the romantic little island of the HatiTald Gulf, they have not visited home there for now nearly three years, having , made a prolonged stay in Sydney. Mrs Farmer is a sister of Mrs V.' Petere, Mulinuu. Both are daughters of the late Mr John Bell and Mrs Bell, teachers under L.M.S. puspiccs in Samoa years ago, who are still remembered with respect by many of our older residents. The late Mr Bell devoted some fourteen years to his profession in Apia, and died in the yea-r 189G or thereabouts. After his death his widow returned to Auckland and lived wish her daughters there for several yeare, but subsequently returned to ;her native place, Ijeeds, England, where she now resides. Her daughter, Mrs Peters, is also a native of the Yorkshire city. J Mr A. Kaye, chairman of Lyttelton I Harbour Board, leaves shortly for England, and hope* to return towards the end of the year.
