Replying to a Labour motion in favour of the Government securing its own fleet of ships, Mr. H. Burton, Minister for Railways and Harbours, said the Government had considered the advisability but the result bad not been encouraging. Hie question was not one of practical politics. Tbe Australian precedent was not a good one Whatever might be thought of the Australian venture in war, tbe problem of State-owned ships peace time was entirely out of the i .uestion.— ffi«ut«»^
