HOBSON BAY IMPROVEMENTS.

BOAT HARBOUR WANTED. A deputation of Kemuera residents, consisting of Messrs. C. J. Parr, M.P. for Eden, C. A. Whitney. W. H. Hudson, and Percy Spencer, waited upon Mr. H. D. Heather, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, yesterday afternoon re the proposed railway embankment across Hobson's (Bay. •Mγ. Parr recapitulated past history connected with this matter, and said the object of the deputation was to eeeure the land between the railway and the beach. Mr. Hudson suggested that the area should tw devoted to the formation of a large boat harbour. This was supported by the other members of the deputation, who asked the assistance of the Harbour Board in that direction.

Mr. Heather said "the matter was entirely in the hands of the Railway Department, and recommended the deputation to interview Mr. Mclntosh. He added that he understood the Railway Department contemplated establishing an engine depot and assembly yards at iHobsou's Bay. Mr. Heather said, personally, he saw no objection to the area in question being utilised as a boat harbour, but the matter was out of the hands of the Harbour Board.
