A Maori woman wae burned to death on Saturday night in a whare at Onaero, Taranaki. The rainfall in Auckland during February amounted to 0.84 in, which is 2.13 in below the average fall for the month for 66 years. The estimated population of New Zealand on December 31, 1918, wae 1,170,953, comprising 574,561 males an.l 596,392 females. The total inchidee 49,776 Maoris and 12,797 Pacitie Islanders.
