THE IMPERIAL PTTRCHASE. EXTENSION TO 1920. (By Telegraph-Special to > WELLINGTON, this day. The purchase of New Zealand meat has bee.v e.*tr.ndcd till June, 1920. Announcing this important development Mr D. W. Outline, Minister in Charge of Imperial Supplies, remarked to your correspondent that it appeared as if meat, ibnttcr, wool and cheese will all be taken till the period mentioned, an arrangement which must prove of inestimable benefit from a financial point of vipw, to Nerw Zealand whilst passing through the period of transition from war to peace conditions. Questioned regarding dairy products and imperial purchase, the Minister said that the last information wa« that the Imperial Government would not take butter without cheese. Butter suppliers desired only one year's renewal, but now that they will take two years, he has no doubt that the cheese purchase will be arranged. Similarly, the renewal of the meat purchase is at the old rates. As for tonnage, the Minister said that he had no apprehensions. Butter, ho said, i 8 getting away well. The promised ships have not been coining forward to the due date, consequently there is a 'lHtle increase in the amount of meat stored.
