WHANGAREI NEWS.
The concert iv Whangarei Town Hail, held by the New Zealand Returned Soldiers -Association, resulted lv v splendid public response, the building being crowded. In addition many tickets were bought by outside sympathisers. An excellent programme was provided, assisted by local artists. The Mayor (Mr. J. S. Dent) presided, and during the evening speeches were delivered affecting the welfare of men who have returned and men lo return, by Mr. V. Mauder. M.l". for Marsdeu, .Mr. K. I. Andrews, secretary of the Auckland branch U.S.A.
An interesting function was also carried out by Major Dr. trazer-Hurst. In the pre Bentatlon of U.S.A. badges to Nurses CiirDey aud I'ptnn. who have recently returned ffom active service abroad. lv making the presentation I he doctor said he was proud to say it carried all the privileges and distinction of the Returned Soldiers* Association, and saluted the recipients iv the name of I he New Zealand army.
