r "Ruth S." thinks a great many people . would like to see the zoo taken over by the City Council. She suggests that a ' large sum might be raised for expenses by a system of season tickets. A family would pay £1 a year, and the first year's subscription would be paid bcforo, the zoo was taken over. j "Leo" writes:—"ln your Wellington . correspondent's notes of the 14th instant in the 'Star,' relating to the coming . by-election, is contained a statement that a handicap that may be too much . for one candidate is his religion, the , majority of electors holding otl.ier beliefs , than the candidate suggested. The ques ! . tion arises: Ii bigotry is rife in the com | , munity, who are the bigots if this j i candidate possesses the necessary ability j l and is penalised on account of religious l r belief? A more momentous problem for , the British race is to-day in the hands of a Catholic. I refer to Marshal Foch I the Generalissimo of the Allied armies, r who so far has proved a genius at his profession."
