DELIVERY OF BREAD.

1 (To the Editor.) Sir, —It is now seventeen or eighteen years since women protested through the National Council of Women against the great waste of time involved in the delivery of bread, milk, etc., and urged ' the municipalities to take on these duties . and avoid such a loss. It is more imperative now than ever before owing to scarcity of efficient labour. It is contended that the change is impracticable, as people could not get supplied by their favourite baker. But in Wanganui, more 1 than twelve months ago, the bakers pooled their supplies for delivery, each cart taking so many streets. Aβ might be expected, there was a bit of grumbling, but if people were not satisfied it I was open to them to go to the : .r baker's shop and purchase the bread direct. Surely a similar method might be adopted with advantage by the city of. Auckland.—l am, etc, E. K. BLACK, (Hon. Secretary Civic League).
