J Mrs. Darby, of Waihi, has been advised I that her son (Lauce-Corporal C. P. | DarbyJ.has had his right arm .amputated ' " as a result of a wound. Lance-Corporal * Darby took part in the Messincs, La . Bassee -and Passchcndaele Uidge engage- ' ments, and also recent British j attack at Bapauroe. He was attached to . the machine-gun section, and is now in hospital in England. He left, with thu Twentieth Reinforcement.'!. . LANCE-CORPORAL C. B. BEESON. Lance-Oorporal Charles Basil Bei-eon. of the Seventeenth Reinforcements, killed in action in France, was the lifth son of Mrs. A. Beeson, of Clonberii Road. Rcmuera. lie was born and educated at ' Waiorougoinai, where lie entered the teaching profession, for some time teach-1 ing at the Napier and Beresford Streets seliools, and eventually entering the Auckland Training College. He was a widely known and highly respected resident of the Matamata district, where he took a prominent part in local, public i and social affairs. He took a very keen interest in church matters, being a layreader for six years, and superintendent of the Sunday school. All Saints', Mata i mata. He has three brothers serving | •with the colours, Sergeant-Major A. V. Beeson, recently returned invalided, Private E. S. Bceson, in the Aviation Corps. T7.S.A-, and Corporal Cr. T. Keeson. K.Z.F.A., in training at Feathcrston Camp. PRIVATE CODDT?fGTO\. Mr. J. 11. Coddington, re<-entlj' Inspector of Factories in Auckland, ha* received information that his brother, X.' G. Coddington, of the Seventh Reinforce- j ments, has been wounded in France for' the second time in two months. Before I he left on active service Private Cod-' clington was a schoolmaster at Raurimu,! in the King Country. PRIVATE GEORGE OUR. Private George Orr, who made the supreme sacrifice in France on August 28, was a son of Mr. James Orr, an old settler of the Gordon district, lie wae i a member of the Auckland Infantry Bat- j . talion, and prior to going on active servieu was fanning at Gordon.
