Rcmuera. lie was born and educated at ' Waiorougoinai, where lie entered the teaching profession, for some time teach-1 ing at the Napier and Beresford Streets seliools, and eventually entering the Auckland Training College. He was a widely known and highly respected resident of the Matamata district, where he took a prominent part in local, public i and social affairs.
