HEARING OF APPEALS. DOMESTIC AND FINANCE. The First Auckland Military Service I Board commenced to-day another session lin the city to hear apptals of reservinta called up. ; juritik 6 was granted for domestic reasons to Thos. Wasa, Birkenhead, and Ernest George, Buckland, and on the same account to January 23 for Albert E. Lock, Devonport, and Percy W. Harwood (CI), ParnelL lleginald A. Timms, Henderson, obtained leave until February 6, pending the result of an application for (financial 1 assistance. I Edgar L. Flyger, Newton (Mr A. H. .Skelton), whose appeal had been adjourned for inquiry, was further considered. Appellant had ten dependents. I A confidential report was perused by the ; Board, which transferred the appeal to the distant category of F class. TOO BUSY TO ATTEND. ' George W. Wills, Kingsland (Mr. Singer) had his appeal reviewed. His wife was delicate, and he had no friends or relatives with whom he could leave her. Appellant was unable to be present as he was engaged in milking, with j one assistant, a herd of 60 cows daily. ( I The Board ■ adjourned the appeal till . January. Harry French, Mount Eden (Mr. Hoski ing) a.?ked for three months' leave to arrange his business affairs, so that hie partner, Eoberts, could carry on the business. Appellant, a member of B Class, was the sole remaining of four brothers, one of whom had been killed in action, and the other two were eery- j ing tsince the be<rinning of the war. The I Board granted leave until February 1. FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS. The appeal catsc of John A. O. Hem- | ing (CI), Panmure (Mr. Inder) was re* considered by the Board which, in view of I appellant* financial responsibilities and j his piise-'bli- rejection, suggested that the j reservist's acceptance for service, judg- | ing on the facts presented, would make ' him a very expensive soldier. Fleming ■ j had been repeatedly rejected, and not I until he received a notice that he would not be required for active service had he undertaken various liabilities and obligations.
