The following statement regarding the position of affairs in respect to the Waihi-Paeroa G.E. Co., has been made by one director and confirmed by a second one: "There has not hitherto been any , dissatisfaction amongst the directors of the Weilu-Paeroa Oold Extraction Company as to the pi&yioue management or the wisdom of winding up under existing circumstances. At a directors' meeting held the day after the extraordinary meeting of shareholders, which carried a resolution to wind up, dissatisfaction was expressed at the suggestion that the managing director. Mr P. N. Kingewell, and the Mr Aitknn, should be appointed the liquidators. The other four directors present strongly objected (a* shareholders), and considered that if two liquidators were appointed one should be an outsider. Mr Kingswell emphatically stated he should oppose such a step being taken. Mr Jackson, who is a director and large shareholder, also representinp other shareholders at Nelson, had several interviews with Mr Kingswell, and subsequently asked him to at least allow a third liquidator to be appointed. This [ Mr Kingewell declined to do. Some of , the directors attended the meeting yos-' terday in order to register their protest i against a resolution which they knew j must be carried, but later decided to retire. OLD lIAURAKI. The half-yearly meeting of shareholders in the Old Hauraki Gold Mines, i Ltd., convened to-day at Mr. 11. Oilnllan's office, lapsed for want of a quorum. The directors reported that the mine was still under protection, and the option granted over the property had been extended. KORAN TJI. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Kurnnui G.IM. Company, called for 10 a,m. this momiuß at Mr W. J. Nlehol's ' office, Victoria Arcade, lapsed fur want of .1 quorum. The half-yearly report of the directors stated that in accordance with the report of Mr K. <V. Obinemnri Gold and Silver Mines.— During week ending August 24, the rise on south block Royal Reef was extended sft, total distance 25ft Some rich ore Is I coming to hand, and still showing in back !of rise. The sonth block, Qneen Keer crosscut has been carried in a total distance of 19ft, the reef at this point being Bft wide. Quartz broken here ie good general ore. Waihi Grand Junction.—The following Iβ the report of work done in the Walhl mine for the period ended June 15:—At No. 8 level the Empire IGOTt lode In the 330 ft west crosscut is penetrating country rock. The Empire lode was oroken out from 390 to 457 ft in the 8.8. crosscut, and assayed 18/ per ton for 95 inches. The Royal lode in the drive east assayed 3/ for a width of 65 inchee. At No. 7 level the assay in tbc same lode in the winze was 7/3 for a width of GO inches. The Empire lode in the Intermediate rise from No. 7 level is mixed with country rock and aeaeved, 7/, l for a width of 72 Inches. Sylvia Reefs, Ltd. —During the week the crosscut at No. 4 level was advanced 28 feet. Quarts has been cut, but there has not been enough work done yet to determine the size or values of the reef. The total distance driven w«s 126 feet from the starting point. Rising Sun.—Stoping has been continued tn No. 3 block on No. 1 reef over the low level. The width of the reef Is about two feet, and In the north end of the block the on- broken was of better values than that previously stopetl underfoot:. About 40 tons of. ore were broken during the week.
