A very successful iSoldiers' Gift Evening -fas' held in the Mt. Eden Baptiet Sunday School Hall on Wednesday evening. The cum of £10 10/ was collected, and in addition a good assortment of comforts, some of which were made by the Sunday School children, were handed in. The Rev. Howard Elliott occupied the chair, and Mr. \V. M. Ogilvie, late of the hospital ship Maheno, gave an i interesting sketch of life on board a hospital ship. Mr. Ojilvie made special mention of the splendid work carried on by the V.M.C.A. in London and other large centres in England. Up till 2.45 p.m. fche amount received into the counting-house in the "For France" effort was £250. The MLssas May and Francis, of Mies Keesinirs stall, handed in a box containing £64 5/11. : There's smack in a glass of "Nu-Beer." i It's full flavoured. Sold everywhere at J all timee.— (Ad.)
