RUPPRECHT WANTS TIME.

LONDON, August 14. Mr Perceval Phillips ("Daily Express") says that although the pace has somewhat slackened, we continue to advance, and have not yet met any widely organised resistance. The Second and 18th German armies, broken and bewildered, continue to retire in disorder, in an endeavour to reach a line to reorganise and recover from the staggering blow. They attempted to do so on the lino covering Peronnc and Roye, but our cavalry and infantry smashed the attempt. They arc now retreating across the wilderness created by themselves. Prince Rupprecht is playing a desperate game in order to gain time. He is leaving local garrisons to fight to the last against the gallant English, Australians, and Canadians. Ruprecht, meanwhile, is endeavouring to create a new line behind his raeged rearguard.
