PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.

WOMEN'S WORK. SUCCESSFUL YKAR. Members of the Auckland Women's Patriotic League held their third animal meeting in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs. J. H. Guneon presided over a large attendance, including delegates from country branches. The president, in her opening address, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors, whose support and co-operation during the year had been of the greatest value, and was very highly appreciated. Reference waR also made to the excellent work of the provincial secretary (Miss Harvey) and of the local secretary (Mise Rhodes). A warm tribute wa« paid to the Advisory Board for its unfailing support and advice, and to the conveners and members of all committees. A special feature of the year had been the city campaign to raise £25,000, which could not possibly have been accomplished without the help of the Business Men's Committee. The reports (submitted by the conveners of the various committees showed that success had attended the year's work. A monthly supply of 7.>0 huesifa had been forwarded to soldiers, and about 000 pairs of cocks, also scarves, balaclavas, mitten 6, and other things. Books and periodicals to the nuoibcr of 92.R6.) had been sent to hospitals, hospital ships, transports, and various place? where New Zealand soldiers were stationed. About twenty troopships and hospital ships had been met since August last, and provision made for the entertainment and refreshment of about 000 men. In addition to this some 3,400 garments had been made for the men in the Dominion since March last, and sent to the Red Cross depot. The total number of branch leagues wae stated to be 97. the membership now standing at 3,170. Liberal donatione had been made to the parent league, including 7,040 gift parcels, over 12.000 knitted garments. 7.587 Red Cross garments, and over 0,000 patriotic sundries. The sum of £12,329 fl/10 had also' been transmitted to the head office. A CREDIT OF £9,540 S/4. The election of membere of the executive resulted as follows: —Mesdames B. Buttle. Ovcrtou Smith, J. B. Macfarlane. Bui-kleton, K. W. Wileon. Newcombe. Uain. Rapson, and Burmester; Misses 1. .Spedding, Hasten, and M. Reid; and Mesdames A. W, Averill, P. E. Baumc, and C. J. Parr. All bul the last three wore appointed conveners of committees. Afternoon tea was provided at the conclusion by the mem Dors of the Ministering and Entertaining Committee. A musical programme was also given.
