CHINA AND THE WAR.

(To tlic Editor.) Sir, —I was particularly interested in Mr Sidney Lowe's letter. It is most regrettable that, when other flags are being displayed, that of our ally China should be omitted; but, as I have been able to explain to Mr Lowe, this was purely due to the fact that the Chinese Republic flag was unobtainable in Auckland. Why this should be Ido not know, and I certainly think that in a city of this size a little more enthusiasm and thought should be given to matters of this kind, as it is most humiliating for an ordinary civilian' to be expected to offer an apology. For tho information of the general public, a Hag can now be obtained from Mr Ah Chee. Perhaps the members of the Chamber of Commerce or some other public body will see to it that a few flags are copied from this one. I I am, etc., ■ G.F.C.
