WAIMARIE NEWS.
The usual monthly meeting at members of the Waimarie "branch of the N.Z. Farmers' Union was held last Saturday evenius. Telephone connection with Auckland: It was decided to arrange for subscribers on the basis of the estimate submitted liv the hon. secretary. The first section of Wannarie Koad having been metalled it was decided to complete the formation of the footpath. The question of opening up direct access from 'Riterlea to Waimarie wharf by the extension of what is now a blind road to Jllverlea Koad was discussed, and a snu-committee was appointed to report on the feasibility of extension, whii-h would reduce the distance from Uiverlea to Wnimarle wharf oy abont b:ilf. The proposed local deviation oi the railway, with a station near -Myers Park, was discussed. 1! was decided to t.rmmnnicate with the other 'branches ol the N.Z. Fanners' Union and with the Auckland .Provincial Executive, •with a view of opposing any local deviations likely to iTect the Northern main deviation, proposed by the Railway Department. A ladies' committee fMiss ■Mlkot, non. secretary) has been formed for organising a Ited Cross sale of work.
