CONSCIENTIOVS OBJECTORS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —A clipping from the "Auckland Star' of June 1 refers to the treatment of conscientious objectors, and especially to J>o. 1 Field Punishment, as described at a meeting of the Women's National Council in Wellington, and then to a mass of evidence showing that the statements are without a ehred of foundation. I have visited the parents of Archie Baxter, and have seen the original letter in which he speaks ibriefly of Jus sufferings during the voyage to Engjarid and during his field punishment. This letter was passed by the Censor. I lave alfio seen the telegram containing the cabled news of his subsequent mental breakdown. Many copies of both letter and telegram have been circulated throughout the Dominion.—l am, etc., MARY iIcCAKTHY. IS, Albert Street, St. Clair, Wellington.
