TURKEY'S MODEST CLAIM.
AMSTERDAM, June 23. The Turkish newspaper, " Aati" gives the Turkish war aims based on the assumption that if Turkey had not entered the war the Allies would have been saved from action in live theatres, which would probably have meant the speedy defeat of the Central Powers. Turkey's aims include the surrender of the. occupied territories in Mesopotamia and Palestine, land the restoration of Turkish dominanation in Ejrypt. the independence of Persia, and the removal of all British influence there: Turkey to dominate the Black Sea. with protection for all States [ bordering on it, with an Ottoman prince tin the Crimean throne, a German prince in Georgia, and an Austrian arch-duke in j Armenia as regents; Crete to be returned to Turkey.—(A. and X.Z.) A BALKAN BONE. AMSTERDAM, June 23. Dr. yon Kuhlmann, German Foreign Secretary, discussing the peace treaty with Rumania, in the Reichstag, referred to the friction between Bulgaria and Turkey regarding the Dobrudju. He declared that the present arrangements were temporary. The Central Powers hoped that the Northern Dobrudja would shortly be united to Bulgaria, in accordance with Bulgarian aspirations. The question of compensation to Turkey for the Dobrudja had caused great irritation in Bulgaria and Turkey. It behoved the Germans to refrain from expressing an opinion. They must not give the imi pression that they favoured either side, as an increase in the irritation would render a solution more difficult. — (A. and N.Z.)
