BANKRUPT PARTNERS.
A..i. • ~"* PA-TISO-T AND BKOOKS. __. The examination of Richard Pattison, building- contractor, by his former partner, John Brooks, was continued yesterday afternoon for more than two hours before Mr. W. S. Fisher, Official Assignee in Bankruptcy. The examination was carried out in virtue of a stipulation made by the judge when Brooks was adjudicated a bankrupt, as, Brooks claimed to be a creditor in Pattison's estate. Acting on the Assignee's suggestion, none of Brooks' creditors who had been present at the meeting on Thursday afternoon attended yesterday. In the course of his interrogation, -which was of a very desultory character, Brooks declared that Pattison, had been "nursed" by the creditors-for the purpose of attacking hhn (Brooks). A great deal of time -was spent over the question of a house which Pattison had built for himself at Devonport, Brooks alleging that the firm's money had been used. Pattison stated that the moneys used by him were standing to his credit on the firm's books at the time. Brooks later stated that he would not be satisfied until the books had been submitted to audit, and declared that he had been denied access to them. The Assignee said that the condition of the estate was such that he would not take the responsibility of ordering an audit. Brooks having intimated that he had finished "for the present," the -Assignee said that he would call the creditors ..together to consider as soon as possible, Brooks' share in the bankruptcy. - =__ _=
