SOUTHERN PRODUCE MARKETS. CHRISTCr.I'Kt-lt. Friday. The grain market generally \& very quiet. A little wheat, both milling' and fowl, continues to come forward, and Is readily taken j at Government prices. Some concern is I now being felt nt the probable shortage of I wheat and that no steps are yet announced as' to what will be done to make up the | deficiency. It is urged that if the millere ] had more good Australian wheat for milling I purposes more use could be made of the I inferior lines. Potatoes form the only line that is moving, and these somewhat slowly, as growers are not offering very freely. The drizzling rain thnt set In last night may continue, and will put a cheek upon deliveries. Sales have iheen made during ( the month at £5 16/ to £15 at country I stations. A fair quantity of both potatoes j and oat sheaf chaff went North during the week. A consignment of chaff has been shipped to Wellington and railed to Napier. j
