SOLDIERS' HOMES.
His Excellency Lord Liverpool, who has been visiting Rotorua, has communicated with Lieut.-Colonel Moorhouse regarding the necessity for further extensions at the Home for Convalescent Soldiers in that town. At the meeting of the joint committee of the British Red Cross and Order of St. John to-day a letter was read from Lieut.-Colonal Moorhouse regarding the matter, and asking if Auckland would contribute its proportion, which would amount to £125. The committee approved of making the contribution as requested. It was also decided to ask the Invalid Soldiers' Association to contribute half cost of supplying soldiers at Rotorua with cigarettes and tobacco. An imprest .account of £50 was set up and placed in the hands of Messrs. \V. J. Napier and Tunks to administer, and another account for a similar sum for the Epsom Convalescent Home was placed in the hands of Miss Firtli, with Messrs. Sprang and Tunks.
