AUCKLAND RUGBY LEAGUE.

PRELIMINARY DRAW. A meeting of the Auckland Rugby League was held on Wednesday, April 17, In the evening. Present: J. Cat-low (chairman), J. Endean, G. Whitley, T. Sullivan, A. Ball, E. Frost. W. Ross, R. Pollack, N. Culpan, T. Fielding, and R. Spinley (secretary). The Auckland City Council wrote granting tie- use of the No. 1 ground at the Domain, and Mr. J. H. Cannon wrote accepting the position of patron to the League. Ponsouby Club.—The Ponsonbv Club forwarded a list of officers for 1018 season, and asked Ihe League to assist iv obtaining school teams in the sixth grade. lt was decided that the League bear tiie matter in view when more grounds? are available. Ponsonby dub also asked for ussitiUiuce in defraying the Hospital fees of Mr. S. Jones. It was decided to interview the Hospital Board, nnd ask that body to meet Mr. Jones in Ills account. It was requested by the same club to postpoue the date of closing the nominations for one week. It was decided that the date of entry cannot be e_tetide.l as the minute is already established on the minute book. The club also Asked that a special medallion be provide- for life members of the A.R.L., lv compensation for past services. This matter was referred t.. the .N.Z. Council. ponsonby forwarded Its statement of receipt- and expenditure , for the benefit concert for Mr. S. Jones, and , asked for a further donation of £0. The request was refused. Assistance for pro- , riding grounds for practice mat-lies was also requested hy this club, aud the league deelded to pay for the grounds next Saturday, April 20. The transfer of A. J. A notice of motion given by Air. Carlnw, , anrl tabled ou April 3 and circulated among the clubs, allowing an independent chair- ' man. was- carried. A notice of motion i given by Mr. Pollock, and tabled on Aorll :t and circulated among the delegates, was road. Mr. Pollock stated that his motion dealt entirely with the present constitution of the League, and would not affect new clubs. Carried. Notice of motion tabled by Mr. Benson, providing that a quorum of the League be seven members was read anil paused. .Notice of niotlou tabled by MrBenson for addition of rules was read and pas-sod. Notice of motion relating to the formation of a committee of inquiry to 8° into the cases of suspended players was struck out. Messrs. Endean and Ross were appointed a Finance Committee, aud Messrs.
