WEDDINGS.

A pretty but quiet wedding took place at St. Mark's Church, Kemuera, last Monday, when Lieutenant Richard J. King was married to Miss Elsie Hopkins, elder daughter o| Mr R. H. Hopkins, of Auckland. The ceremonev was performed .by the Rev. Beatty. The "bride, who wae given away by her father, looked very smart in a light fawn gostume with mauve and fawn hat to match, and carried a mauve and pink posy. She wa» attended by her sister, who wore a smart costume of broken check, and carried a mauve and pink posy. Dr. Fisher,acted as best man. A pretty wedding took place at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Devonport, on March 27. when Mr. Robert Cookc Somervell, only son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Somervcll. of Parnell. and Miss Lulu Bates, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs. G. D. Bates, of Devonport, were married. Rev. G. Budd performed the ceremony. The bridesmaids were "Miss Margaret Bates (sister of the bride) and Miss Maxijorie Somervcl] (sister of the bridegroom). Mr. R. Williams acted as best man. and Mr. J. C. Bates (brother of the i bride) as groomsman. A quiet wedding was celebrated on April 5 at the residence of the Bpv. J. G. and Mrs. Chapman, Macfarlane Street, Wellington, when Mr. and Mra. Chapman's youngest daughter. Xora, Toko, was married to Captain Roderick Gordon Bell, ouly son of Peter Gordon Bell, D.M..' P.R.C.S., of Edinburgh. The ceremony was performed by the bride's father in the presence only of the immediate relatives of the bride. Captain and Mrs. Bell will shortly take up their residence in Auckland. A pretty wedding took place at St. Joseph's Church, Paeroa, on April 1, by the Rev. Father Dunphy, when Mr. Percy Pennell, of Thames Road, Paeroa, and Miss Grace Skelton, eldest daughter of Mr. F. J. Skelton, of Opotiki, were married. The bride, who was given away by Mr. J. Pennell, father of the bridegroom, looked charming in a dress of embroidered voile, with veil and orange blossoms. Mre. 0. Sherson, assisted by her two nieces, Peggy and Mary Pennell, atended as bridesmaids. Private Harold Pennell (a returned soldier), brother of the bridegroom, assisted as beet man.
