SPLENDID WORK OF THE FLYING CORPS.

FORY-SEVEa MACHINES BROUGHT DOWN IN ONE DAY. * LONDON, March 26. A report from Sir Douglas Haig states: —Activity in the air has been verygreat. The day was remarkable for the weight of bombs dropped, and the number of fights in the air. Many thousands of rounds were fired from low altitudes upon the troops. Our aeroplanes reported the progress of tho battle, and informed the artillery of suitable targets. Low-flying machines attacked with bombs and machine-guns masses of troops in the battle area. Over 1700 bombs were dropped in ithe daytime on different targets, including Bruges dock, the railway station at Aulncy, a large camp south-east of Cambrai, high velocity guns, and hostile reinforcements. The fighting was the moßt severe experienced. We brought down 47 enemy machines and drove down 22 others out of control. Ten of ours are missing. After dark our air squadrons continued bombing and firing on enemy troops opposite the battlefront. They also bombed the Bruges dock and an acrodromo between Tournai and Mons, used by the enemy's night-fliers. Over 14 tons of bombs were dropped. All our machines returned. A large enemy machine was bombed, and landed behind our lines. NINETY-THREE ENEMY PLANES DESTROYED. ~■..-.. , _ ..
