FIRE RELIEF FUND.

POSITION AT RAETIHI. ! The Deputy-Mayor (Mr. A. J. Entrican) received the following telegram from the Mayor of Ohakune (Mr. i Barry):—"Kindly convey to Women's National Reserve deepest thanks for assistance offered. Have not been in j Raetihi tQrdayi but b.elieve that clothing, is now coming forward from various centres. Captain Griffin is in charge of the distributing arrangements. The position is not quite as bad as was at first feared, but many business people and settlers are very hard hit. Am going to Raetihi now. Shall wire you if anything I think you should know. The Hon. Guthrie has officers collecting information as tp. loss of stock, grass, fences, etc. We should know soon how badly people are affected, and to what extent." Mr. Entrican stated that a number of parcels for relief were left at Mr. Rew's establishment, and sent cm by train last night. , His - Lordship Bishop Cleary has j ordered a collection in all the churches i of the city and diocese to-morrow (Sunday) in aid of the King Country Disaster Fund. AID FROM NEW PLYMOUTH. The Mayor of New Plymouth (Mr. C. G. Burgess) telegraphed to Mr. A. J. Entrican to-day:—"Re King Country Relief Fund, meeting held this afternoon, about £200 already in hand. Propose forwarding it at once to Mayor of Ohakune as the meeting considered immediate relief • was necessary." ANXIOUS WIFE AND MOTHER. j Mrs A. C. Ivesson waited upon the Deputy-Mayor, and stated that her husband and daughter were/ in the employ ! of the Public Works Department in the ' neighbourhood of Raetihi, and so far she has not been able to get any inforj mation regarding them. Mr. Entrican has telegraphed to Captain Carmichae!, also to the Government officers at Raetihi, and to the Mayor of Ohakune, to ! see if any information can be obtained regarding Mr. and Miss Iveson. If anyone has information, Mr. Entrican suggests they should forward it to Mrs. Iveson, 47, Great North Road. ' THE FUND. £1,239 0/6 TO DATE.
