REGIMENTAL FUNDS.
BEGULAH StJBSOKIPTTONS,
APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC.
A report was made by the executive of the Auckland Patriotic Association at yesterday's meeting in regard to the request from the Advisory Board that the Association contribute to the Regimental Fund. The report stated that the executive considered it desirable to contribute to the fund, but before deciding as to the amount of the contribution, it was decided to refer the matter to the Auckland Provincial Women's Patriotic League for their consideration.
A letter was received from the Mayoress (Mrs. ,T. H. Gtinson), stating that with regard to the policy of the League it was decided to contribute to regimental funds regularly, and that an appeal to the public be made at once for funds for the Dominion Gift Scheme and general funds for the League. Should the necessary funds be available, the sum of £500 per month, equal to 2/ per man per month, would be subscribed, the War Helief Association to be aeked to supplement this amount to the extent of pound for pound.
After n lengthy discueeion in council it was resolved thnt the recommendation of the Advisory Board relating to the regimental funds be endorsed, and that the question of raising regimental funds be left at present in the bands of the Women's Patriotic League, whose appeal to the public in this matter be endorsed.
