A BIG COMBINE.
CEMENT COMPANIES' AMALGAMATION.
It is understood that negotiations which have been proceeding for the past few weeks are approaching finality, under which an amalgamation will be effected between the three cement companies in the Auckland province. Details are not available until everything has been finally settled and the agreements eigned, but the effect will be to unite the businesses and assets of the Wilsons Portland Cement Co., the New Zealand Portland Cement Co., and the Dominion Cement Co. This wUI make a big combination of the' old well known business of Wilsons company with ■branches in the Waikato, for agricultural lime, the New Zealand Portland Cement Company's works at Limestone Island/ Whangarei, and the Dominion Cement Company assets, also at Whangarei. The latter company i put up a big plant, and also has a dam for the supply of electrical, power to the works.
