GERMANS TEMPORARILY CHECKED AT PSKOFF
FEEBLE RESISTANCE RAPIDLY BEATEN DOWN. PETROGRAD LEADERS TORN BY DISSENSIONS. |(Received 10.45 p.m.) PETROGRAD, February 27. Only two cavalry squadrons and six armoured cars entered Pskoff. The defenders took panic and fled. The Letts recovered soonest and offered resistance when they learned that the enemy was so few. Some street fighting followed till German reinforcements arrived, and the invaders soon pushed beyond the town. The People's Commissaries in PetrogTad are torn by dissensions. It is understood that Trotzky has retired from the Foreign Ministry.—(A. and 3". Z. Cable.)
