ENEMY ARTILLERY ACTIVE IN YPRES SECTOR.
PATROLS REPULSED AT BECELAERE AND POELCAPELLE. (Received 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, October 14. th - Douglas Haig reports:— The enemy artillery was active last night .crt_-ea_tward of Ypres. We repulsed reconnoitring parties westward of 3ec__ere and northward of Poelcapelle. We made successful raids in the aniibonrhood of Huliuch. A French communique reports:—The artillery struggle is fairly lively on _. Aisne front, especially in the Pantheon district and on Vauclere and C_&"or_ie plateaus.—(A. and N".Z. and Peuter.) Newspapers emphasise the capture of Houthulst forest as a Dre-requisite ti participation by all the Allies in a great offensive.
