RUGBY. ■ AUCKXAivD V. FEATHERSTON. A DRAWN GAME. The Auckland representative team met the lifteen from the Featherston Camp ou the Domain on Saturday afternoon. The weather was fine, but the attendance was not up to expectations, being estimated at about 1,000. The game was played under some of the suggested new amendments, the advantage ruie as applied to the line out, and the absolute free kick, the former clause having open, and the spectators were treated to an exciting match.

On the play the Soldiers had a bit the better of things, but did not make the most usu of. their openings, and this enabled the local team to make a drawn game of it. For Featherston Darby kicked two penalty goals and Barrett .scored a try, while for Auckland Lewis kicked two penalty goals, and Harvey crossed the line.

After the game Mr. J. Arneil, on behalf of the Auckland Rugby Uniou, presented the Featherstou team with the ball used in the match. He congratulated the players on their game, and wished them success in any future matches, they might play. Captain Packer, in acknowledging the gift and good wishes, expressed the hope that next year's Featherston team might make the trip to Auckland, and have greater success than- had attended his team's efforts, lie assured the donors that the ball would be a welcome addition to the recreation equipment of the camp.

As a curtain-raiser the Whangarei representatives under 2o met a team from the Returned Soldiers' Association, and Heated them by 10 points to 3. The annual Itugby fixture between past and present pupils of the Sacred Heart College was played at the college grounds on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance of friends and supporters of both teams, Mr. E. Donovan controlled the game, which was fast, open and iuterest- ; ing, the younger boys putting up a good I fight, which ended in a win for the more seasoned players by 11 points to nil. The annual charity of the Auckland Rugby Union will be played on Saturday next at. Eden Park, between Railway and University, the winners and ruuners-up In the senior championship. WELLINGTON V. AUCKLAND. Wellington has agreed to meet Auckland in the deciding match of the rubber, and the game will be played on the Domain on October G. The provinces have met twice this season, Auckland winning at Auckland by 12 points to nil, while at Wellington the latter turned the tables by 21 points to 11. The match now arranged will, therefore, decide which of the old rivals is entitled to be the champion province for the present season. OUTSIDE MATCHES. Technical r. The Anckland Senior Cadets' team met GoMnelds to-day at Te Aroha. The weather .was fine, and a good fast open game resulted, Goldfields eventually winning by 22 points to nil. For Goldnelds Gavin (2) and Snell (2) scored tries, Gavin and Sanderson converting one each, the former also kicking a penalty goal. Mr. Moore was -referee.

The fifth meeting of City and Ponsonby, the-"champions and runners-up in the Auckland Rugby League senior competition, took place at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon. The weather was fine, and the attendance estimated at about 4,000. A fast, interesting game resulted, City winning the rubber by 1G points to 6. For City, Davidson, Francis (2), and llogan scored tries, two of which Davidson converted, while for Ponsonby, Eae crossed the line twice.
