A meeting of the executive of the Auckland Rugby League was held at 22, Shortland Street. on Wednesday evening. Present: Mr R. Benson (chairman), Messrs. N. Culpan, R. McDonald, G. Whlttley, R. Pollock, T. Fielding, W. Ross, E. Frost, and R. Splnley. A protest was received from the City Club against Ponsonby being awarded the match in the Roope Rooster final, on the ground that Madison was not a registered j member of the Ponsonby Club. The protest was dismissed, and the fee ordered to be | returned. An application from the Returned ,Soldiers' Association for a benefit match | was favourably considered, and September ' S was set aside, the match to take place in the Domain between the cup winners and a combined picked team. A letter from the Rugby Union Referees' Association re the proposed Mackrell memorial was referred to the special committee set up for the purpose. The Junior Advisory Board intimated that the replaying of the Telegraph v. City Fifths match would have no bearing on the championship, and stated that the Board was of the opinion that the match should not be replayed. A further request for presentation of badges to the sixth grade winners was refused. A request from the Pupuke Club for permission to play a fancy costume match In aid of the Navy League was granted, subject to the same being under tho supervision of the League officials. W. MACKRELL MEMORIAL FUND. A representative meeting of sportsmen, admirers and friends of the late W. Mackrell. All Black footballer, oarsman, and representative Northern Union player, was held last evening in the offices of the Auckland Rugby League. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing a proposal to erect a suitable memorial for the object of perpetuating the memory of such a well known sport. Mr R. Benson, Auckland Rugby League, was elected to the chair. Several schemes were propounded, and after a lengthy discussion, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr J. Endean, seconded by Mr P. McElwaln, that those present constitute a committee, with power to add, for the purpose of raising funds for the erection of a suitable headstone. Mr R. A. Splnley offered his services as secretary, which were duly accepted. Donations from the Auckland Rugby League (£3 5/), and Auckland Worklngmen's Club (f3 3/) were acknowledged. The Auckland Rugby League also expressed Its Intention of holding a benefit match on behalf of the fund. An offer of financial assistance was also received from the New Zealand Rugby League. It was resolved that subscription lists be issued Immediately to all interested. The secretary was requested to invite designs and quotations from the local monumental masons. ASSOCIATION.
